I am thrilled to put myself forward for the role of Secretary of Deeside Defenders. Some of you may know me personally, while others may recognize me from my role as 40K Officer, handling payments, or staying late to assist Alan and Ben with closing the Daniel Owen Centre. Regardless of how we’ve connected, one thing remains constant—my deep
dedication to this club and its members.
A Crucial Moment for Deeside Defenders
Our club is at a defining crossroads. In the months ahead, many changes will occur to the
legal framework of the club, however my aim is for this transition to be smooth but effective
without disruption in the members ability to attend a roll some dice.. I fully support the
proposed structural changes and will be voting in favour. These changes are vital to
ensuring a fair, transparent, and well-managed club, and I encourage all members to take
the time to review them and vote based on their merits.
When Josh stepped down as Secretary, I saw an opportunity to step up and give even more to this community. As 40K Officer, I’ve worked to support the club’s growth, and now I want to apply my experience, leadership, and passion to a broader role that benefits every member.

Deeside Defenders has a fantastic foundation, and I believe we can build on this. With a background in marketing, networking, and securing funding, I have the skills and determination, and proven track record to bringing these plans to life. However progress should always be balanced with stability—our club must remain a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone.

My commitment to Deeside Defenders is not just words—I’ve demonstrated it through action. I regularly attend Thursday night sessions, actively promote and participate in Gauntlets, and go the extra mile to ensure the club runs smoothly. Whether staying late to help close, assisting with event organisation, or stepping in wherever needed, I have always been ready to support the club and its members. I need your support and your vote to help shape the next chapter of Deeside Defenders. Together, we can create a thriving,
well-organised, and inclusive club that continues to grow while staying true to its community spirit.
Why I Am the Ideal Candidate for Secretary
I have no illusions about the responsibilities that await the next Secretary of Deeside Defenders. The role demands dedication, strategic planning, and a commitment to the club’s continued growth. In the coming months and years, there will be significant
work to expand and enhance our community. On the following page, I will outline my objectives for improving the member experience, along with the skills, experience, and
proven track record that make me the right candidate for this role. I am not here to make sweeping promises of drastic change; instead, my goals are realistic, achievable, and designed to make a meaningful, positive impact on our club and its members.

More Club Nights, More Opportunities to Game!
I am committed to expanding the number of club nights, providing regular opportunities for members to play, connect with new players, and strengthen our community. Whether through casual gaming sessions, league nights, or events tailored for new players, I will work to develop a schedule that accommodates everyone’s interests. By collaborating closely with Officers, I will ensure that club activities reflect the needs and preferences of our members.
Securing Funding and Sponsorships to Support Our Club
I will actively seek sponsorships for each league we organise, securing prizes, discounts, and additional support to enhance the club experience and promote growth. With extensive experience in negotiating sponsorship agreements, I have successfully collaborated with local businesses, global sports brands, and suppliers to obtain funding and exclusive benefits. By forging strategic partnerships, we can further strengthen Deeside Defenders,
providing greater opportunities and resources for our members.
Expanding Weekend Events
Weekend gaming events serve as an excellent opportunity to unite the community and attract new players. I will organise themed gaming days in collaboration with Officers to ensure dedicated events for all game systems. These events will not only provide more
opportunities for members to participate but also introduce new games, fostering a diverse and engaging club environment.
I have experience in planning and hosting large-scale games, such as the 40K Christmas Party – Realm of Chaos game, which saw up to 30+ participants engaging in a fun and exciting experience.
Why I’m the Right Person for the Secretary Position
I have a demonstrated history of success in marketing, networking, and club management, equipping me with the expertise to effectively promote Deeside Defenders and secure new opportunities for growth and development.
Marketing & Outreach Expertise:
Alongside my role as University Lecturer I am the Marketing Lead and School Outreach Lead for North Wales Medical School, I have extensive experience in public engagement, social media management, and building strategic partnerships to enhance visibility and outreach.
Strong Network Skills:
I currently serve as Wales’ representative on the Education and Curriculum Committee for the Royal Society of Biology, where I have successfully collaborated with organisations such as the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Westminster Government, and the Senedd. This demonstrates my ability to establish meaningful connections and secure support at both national and institutional levels.
Club & Committee Experience:
I have previously held key leadership roles, including Chairman, Treasurer, and Social Media Officer, for multiple successful university and community sports clubs. In these roles, managed growth, finances, and member engagement. Additionally, I have represented Wales on the National Lacrosse Team as a player and served as the North Wales Lacrosse Coach.
Proven Success in Funding and Sponsorship:
have secured over £10,000 in funding from Sport Wales and Sport England, benefiting institutions such as The University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, Bangor University, and Liverpool Lacrosse Club. Furthermore, I have successfully negotiated sponsorship agreements with both local businesses and global brands to support club development.
Current Contribution: As the current 40K Officer, I take great pride in supporting and giving back to both the game and the club that I am passionate about. I am committed to ensuring its continued success and growth. If elected secretary I hope to expand this to all game systems for the benefit of every club member.
