Progress on 2025 Club Changes

In March the committee proposed a change to the club structure and polled the club membership, who resoundingly agreed with the proposal (92 votes for, 5 abstained, 0 against). We have been a little delayed due to illness and day-jobs, but we are now pleased to give you more information on this progress and to share with you what will happen next.

Club Constitution

We committed to amend the Club Constitution to take into account the Articles of Association of the new company and consult with the club membership. This constitution enshrines within it the manner in which the new company shall be run, and ensure that the will of club members is taken into account now and in the future. We have completed this document and are pleased to be able to share it with the club for consultation. We encourage you to read the document and raise any questions or feedback you have with a member of the committee.

We have also been working on a number of other club policies and procedures. Some of these exist and need to be updated, some need to be created. These support the constitution and many are required for the changes in club status. You can see all of these files in the improved file section of the website. This list will continue to be edited and added to as we go forwards. Again if you have feedback please talk to a committee member.

Further work also involves the need to change bank account and our means of taking fees, as well as buying insurances, sorting DBS checks and safeguarding training and updating the website with everything. Most of this should not affect you directly as club members, but please bear with us as we work through things.

Key Dates

Most of this work is behind the scenes, and wont directly affect club members, but we provide the dates for those that are interested. In particular the key dates to note are:

• Registration of the new company - week beginning 9th June 2025

• Calling notice for 2 new directors - week beginning 16th June 2025, with an election polling date of 8th July.

Dates may change if there is delay or disruption to other parts of the plan.

Potential Name Change

We had also suggested that we should reconsider the name and branding of the club later in the year, as the name no longer reflects our location. You will see from the chart above that we expect to be able to do this through August. With any agreed change being implemented in September.

Any change to the club name or logo will require a vote of the club membership (as set out in the new constitution). Further we believe that we would open this to a competition of club members. The new board will have to agree the detailed means to do this, and we will communicate the process in due course, this may mean that specific dates and approach may change.

We shall not be accepting ClubbyMcClubFace as a new name suggestion. (- Alan)
