Houston, we have a problem....

After announcing the club's new name, it has come to our attention that we have inadvertently not followed the club's constitution.
This was a genuine mistake, missed by the board, the officers and the club membership during the process.
So, what's the problem?
As per the club constitution,
"Any vote shall be open to Club Members only, on the basis of one member - one vote. The vote to be conducted by secret ballot, and the result carried by majority of votes cast. Voting to be conducted in a manner that provides equal access to all Club Members."
It's the "carried by majority" part which we are running afoul of. Technically, in voting terms, the majority means we require more than half of the casting votes to be in favour of the winner.
This voting mechanism is fine in a yes/no vote or between two candidates, but it will probably cause problems with more than two options in this and any further votes we hold.
So, what's the Solution?
We will have to re-run the entire process from the start. We shall look at the rules on the submissions, the length of time to allow submissions and how we filter the submissions.
Of course, this will take time. Until we re-run the vote, we are still Deeside Defenders.
