A word from your candidate standing for club secretary
Hello everybody, I'm Vinnie - a professional physicist, hobbyist game developer, avid gamer, MTG enjoyer, and DnD nerd. When I'm not working with my research team or teaching, I'm usually either trying to debug my poorly commented spaghetti code or filling in failed death saving throws on our Monday evening adventures. While the average life expectancy of my characters is around 15 minuets, if I roll well, I've truly found a community here that I cherish and made lifelong friends - I'm sure that experience isn't unique to me, I'm sure many of you feel the same. I hope that as our club continues to grow, we can provide that same experience and sense of community, comradery, and unapologetic nerd nonsense to many more. I'm putting myself in the running for secretary because I want to give back to the club that's given me hours of fun and friendship by dedicating some of my time to it in turn. As a physicist both working with an active research team and with students, and as a carer for a disabled family member, I'm no stranger to organising my time, managing multiple responsibilities, communicating effectively and efficiently on both an individual and team level, and juggling interpersonal relationships with professional neutrality. I'm very quick to learn new skills, and I'm confident I can be an asset to the club in this period of growth and change and beyond. Just don't ask me to keep a DnD character alive. Thank you for coming to my TED talk! All that said, I'm sure the other candidates are very competent and, regardless of who you vote for and who wins, our club has a bright future!
