Club Name and Logo Competition

Potential Name and Logo Change
Our club is now 25 years old, having moved venues, expanded to three nights, achieved record attendances, and is now a registered not-for-profit social enterprise company. We've been through a lot. The name and logo of the club have served us well over time, but there are problems.
Deeside is no longer our home. The term Deeside limits our catchment area and does not help us to reach out to potential members further afield
The logo is easy to recognise and the colours are eye-catching, but it is very complex, does not scale well for use on the website, merchandise, dice and other things.
The logo also includes the silhouettes of various recognisable characters - some of which are IP owned by other companies.
The logo does not represent the range of games we play. Board games, RPGs and card games are all unrepresented.
As set out earlier, the board is suggesting that the membership should consider a name and logo change. We would like to do this by asking members to enter a two-part competition.
PART A - Possible Name Change
We would like members to propose alternate club names. This would then be reviewed for suitability by a small group of officers and members to produce a shortlist of finalists. We shall then undertake a club-wide vote to decide if the club wishes to change its name, and if so, what to? Please see this document for guidance.
Alternate names can be proposed at any time from now until 31st August
We then expect the members' vote to take place on 11th September
Please submit your entries here
PART B - Logo/Branding Change
Following the vote on a name, we would then like to repeat the process for a logo.
Members are encouraged to propose alternate logos and branding for the club, whether it's the existing name or a new one. This would then be reviewed for suitability by the panel of officers and members to produce a list of finalists.
You do not need to be great at art to enter. We will then hold a club member vote to select a preferred logo. Adam Studdart is a professional graphic artist and will be able to help the winning finalist turn their sketch/idea into a full logo. Adam has provided this guidance on creating a good logo, which will be used to narrow down the entrants to a suitable final list.
Logo submissions will be open from 11th September to 30th September.
Final members voting on a logo is expected to be on 16th October
All the finalists' logos could potentially still be used in the future, as the winner's logo will become our new header and our club's main branding logo for many years to come; the other finalists could find their logo submissions on club merch (this option will be further explored in the future and maybe this art competition becomes a permanent recurring event in the clubs calendar, with new merch designs being released periodically)
Want to Help Review Entries?
If you're not submitting an entry but would like to be involved, you are welcome to request to join Adam and Luke in forming a small review group of members (5 or 7).
We would like a representative from the 3 major groups within our club (RPG, Wargame, Board games). If you have relevant skills, experience, or just a good eye for design, let a board member know.
This is a chance to create something that represents who we are now and where we’re going next.
Let’s make our next 25 years look as good as they play.
