Joshua Townley for Deeside Defenders

You probably know me by now—but if we haven’t met, I’m Joshua Townley. A former committee member, founder of the National Tabletop Games Alliance (the WNC), and, most importantly, an avid dice gamer. I’ve been a proud member of Deeside Defenders for years (since our old club, FGC, merged with Deeside when they moved to Mold), and I’m eager to continue serving this incredible community in the years ahead. With your support, I’d love to help build a future where Deeside Defenders thrives like never before.
Let’s make the next chapter our best one yet!
Key Policies & Initiatives
Members-Only Free Game Days: I’d like to explore offering select game days at a reduced cost—or even free—to reward our members and attract new ones. These events would be a great way to give back, strengthen our community, and introduce more people to the club.
More Cool Stuff for Members: As Vice-Captain of the Warhammer 40K team, I’ve helped source gaming aids, mats, terrain, and even club/national shirts for gaming communities across the country. By establishing a clear, transparent tendering process, we can secure the best deals for our members.
(An example of the gaming aids I helped source for the national community in 2025: community objective markers and Welsh community shirts. Something our members might like for our club)
National Events & Leadership: As founder of the WNC (Welsh National Championships for Tabletop Games), an alliance of seven clubs across Wales, I’m in a strong position to ensure Deeside Defenders has a leading voice and national presence in the tabletop gaming scene.
Experience & Achievements
Officers Group: Launched this group to represent and champion all game systems within Deeside Defenders. I also introduced the club’s first online survey, giving the committee valuable insights into which games our members play—leading to fairer, more transparent support.
Leagues & Events: This year alone, I’ve helped organise 13 games events across the country, from the River Dee to Cardiff. I’m especially proud of the Warhammer 40K Community League, which I run with Ben—it’s drawn countless members and become the envy of clubs nationwide! I’d love to extend similar support to other game systems.
National Connections: As founder of the non-profit Wales National Championships (WNC), I’ve built strong inter-club relationships. As your secretary, I’ll ensure Deeside Defenders remains a key leader in these communities.
Vice-Captain of the Wales 40K Team: In this role, I’ve helped grow funding and membership for the national team, proving my commitment to fostering community growth. What started as a grassroots movement in Deeside has now spread nationwide, strengthening the entire gaming community.

I’m deeply committed to Deeside Defenders and its future. As your Director, I’ll work tirelessly to bring the club together, champion your needs, and help us achieve our shared goals.
Let’s continue making Deeside Defenders a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant community.
Thank you for your support!
Joshua Townley
