- 2 min read
We are now looking for candidates to stand for election to become Directors of the club.
If you are interested in standing then please talk to a member of the current committee to make yourself known by 30th June and learn more about what is involved. We will announce the list of candidates on 1st July, and in line with the timings set out in earlier communications, elections will be held for two Directors on 15th July.
Candidates must:
be a member of the club
not be an undischarged bankrupt
not be disqualified from being a director by a court order
Candidates should be aware that their details will be publicly registered at Companies House. Candidates should also check that there are no other restrictions on them becoming a director, such as a restriction in an employment contract.

A Short Delay...
We have a short delay to the schedule of registering the club as a Social Enterprise Company which should have been concluded this week.
Ben's employer has raised an issue about him becoming a director of another company. We cannot register with only two directors; this would contravene our Articles [41] and Companies House would reject our application.
We will not be changing the articles, we do not believe it is in the club's interest to lower the minimum number of directors to 2. The club voted on the articles and our intent has always been to include more people.
To give Ben the best opportunity to resolve the problem, we are pressing ahead with the election for two directors and will then register the company afterwards.
If we have not resolved Ben's situation and registered the company by the time the 15th July, then the elected individuals will join the current committee. We shall then immediately call an EGM to apply for registration as a company with four directors, Matt, myself and two newly elected people. We would then invoke article 42 and co-opt Ben onto the board as the fifth director. This co-option only needs to be confirmed with Companies House at the next AGM in April 2026. This would give Ben sufficient time to resolve the problem. If not then he would need to step down at the AGM and we would then elect a fifth director.
We believe this is the best overall solution. It allows Ben to operate in the capacity the club elected him to, without overly delaying the registration process.
+++++ Voting on 15th July
Voting shall be open to all club members and be conducted on the club website.
We shall be closing the club to new member applications from 30th June to 16th July. If you want to vote, make sure you are a member of the club and have been issued with a numbered membership card, and you have a valid login to the website. If you can login and see this page, then you will be able to see the voting page when it goes live. Any technical problems - talk to Alan.
