Cafe Volunteering

Our club is a not-for-profit company. From the board, to officers and club members we all volunteer our time to make club activities happen. Our hosts, Daniel Owen Community Association, are a registered charity and provide many of their services using volunteers. Particularly the provision of cafe food to us.
As our club has become bigger and more successful, we place a greater demand on the same DOC volunteers. It is now becoming difficult to continue to offer the cafe service that we enjoy, without additional help.
To continue to have the cafe at our Thursday game nights, and Gauntlet Sunday events, we are looking for club members to give up a gaming session now and again to help out the cafe staff.

This opportunity is open to all club members, and you may volunteer as little or as often as you like. We are seeking:
Thursdays - 2 volunteers from 6 pm to 9 pm
Gauntlet - 4 volunteers,
2 from 9 am to 11:30 am
2 more from 11:30 am to 2pm
Duties will include a range of front-of-house activities; taking orders and fees, delivering food, helping clear away, washing-up and generally keep the area tidy. There will be no food preparation. Basic training on the use of the till and other equipment will be provided on the job. There is absolutely no pressure to do this. It is completely voluntary. We recognise that members come to the club for different reasons and have different circumstances, so may not be in a position to help or wish to help. That is totally understandable.
We have added a volunteer page to the website. Members can volunteer and book which events they wish to help at. This booking process looks a little like a purchase so you will need to 'check out' but there is no payment. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Since we moved to the DO Centre on the 6th of June 2021, the same volunteers have helped provide our food and serve us our drinks in the Cafe.. and so we are looking for any kind folks willing to volunteer and help out on the occasional week.. the centre will provide all the necessary training. If you can.. give it some thought. :)
